Bald Head Association (BHA)

Established in 1982, BHA is the largest property owners' association on Bald Head Island. BHA member services include:

  • Architectural Review and enforcement of BHA Covenants
  • Common Area protection and management (buffer zones between homes and the golf course, Wildlife Overlook, BHA Community Garden, BHA Boat Park, three Cape Fear Station drip-line communities, master walkways in Cape Fear Station and 13 alleys in the East End)
  • Advocacy on behalf of all property owners and especially those not eligible to vote
  • Provide recreational services/facilities to members
  • Communications: Island Report monthly newsletter in print and online, website, BHA's Compass email bulletins, Facebook and posters on BHI
  • Meeting space rental and management: Generator Society Hall and Association Center outside deck
  • Committees — Architectural Review Committee (ARC); Strategic Planning and Long Range Projects (SPLRP) Committee; Resource Conservation and Beautification (RCB) Committee; Socialization, Education and Recreation (SER) Committee; Finance Committee; Nominating Committee

The Village of Bald Head Island's vision is to provide quality public service through mutual respect, trust, communication and enhancement of community values. Incorporated as a municipality in 1985, the Village has all the powers, duties, rights and privileges granted and imposed upon municipalities by the general law of the State of NC. Village municipal services include:

  • Enforcement of ordinances
  • Building permits
  • Public safety (fire, emergency medical services, law enforcement and water rescue)
  • Animal control
  • Licensing and registration (including golf cart registration)
  • Road maintenance
  • Utilities (water and sewer)

BHI Conservancy

Barrier island education, conservation and preservation. Established in 1983.
